Revision hip replacement / revision hip arthroplasty

Revision hip replacement means re doing the previous hip replacement. It can be either a partial procedure which replaces either the socket or stem or a total revision procedure which replaces both the socket and stem.
Hip revision surgery is technically demanding and needs careful pre operative planning. A variety of implant options, allograft, wedges, augments may be necessary. We have used Trabecular metal augments for focal contained acetabular defects. We prefer cementless fixation in hip revision.
